I know, I know. It’s been awhile since I posted. Sorry ’bout that 
Truth is, I’ve been extraordinarily busy and I hate posting just for the sake of posting, you know? I’ve got enough interesting things on the go now though, to be able to give you a healthy update as to what I’ve been up to for the past two months. Some pretty exciting stuff on the horizon (if you’re geeky, like me)!

Good news! I’ll be speaking at the National Women in Business Expo this Sunday, March 29 in Calgary. I’ll be discussing why having a website isn’t enough and how Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) can help make or break your online presence.
Depending on the skill level of the audience, I may even spill a juicy link building secret or two. If you happen to be in Calgary next weekend, I hope you’ll drop by and say hello

I’ve been so busy with projects lately that I haven’t had sufficient time to post (or do anything but work for that matter). In spite of this, I got mentioned on Lee Odden’s site recently (yay!). He says I’ve got a shot at making the BIGLIST of SEO blogs, I just need to get my butt in gear and post at least once per week. Naturally, I’m now making it my top priority.

Last week I held a contest. To enter, all you had to do was leave a comment. This weekend, I had my kids help me with picking the winner. They wrote everyone’s name on a piece of paper and drew from a hat.

There’s only so much of me to go around, so in the interest of expanding the company (and because she’s been pestering me for years), I’ve agreed to teach my younger sister some techniques of my trade.
She’ll be blogging here about her experiences, as she learns from scratch, one of the most challenging aspects of search engine optimization – organic link building (link building for the intention of ranking). She’s 27; her name is Jodie, she fully rawks and I know you’ll adore her. Watch for her first post next week. For now though, you’ll have to settle for me (hi!) and a recap of our first lesson…

Without any fanfare, streamers or balloons, CanadianSEO, a site dedicated to all things Canadian and SEO (especially where they overlap), is officially open for business today. Yay! There’s still a lot I want to do but I figure it’ll never be perfect so why wait?
I have big plans for future content on this site so you might wanna subscribe to the feed. I’d hate for you to miss out on a secret linkbuilding resource or even my recipe for Canadian bacon butter for that matter

A friend of mine on Twitter @vinceblackham sent me these interesting questions to answer. I thought I’d post them on my blog which he is also posting on his; Primary Affect.
1. How long have you been working in SEO and Internet Marketing and what attracted you to it?
I started learning SEO out of sheer necessity in 2002 right after I took our Edmonton automotive business online with our first ecommerce website. The site was so successful that we sold it 3 years later. Since then I’ve worked for an Edmonton SEO agency (Epiar), in-house with Statusfirm and for myself. I’m extremely passionate about what I do and I feel very fortunate to be able to do it. In fact, I couldn’t imagine any other way to have spent the past 6 years of my life.
